Civil Guard warns of massive surge in illegal crossing attempts at Ceuta

The Civil Guard’s notice warned of a foreseeable increase in migration pressure and a potential shift toward maritime entries, urging reinforcement of the provincial maritime service, the special underwater unit in Melilla, and enhanced detection technology.
It also suggested legislative changes to allow border rejection for irregular crossings by any means. The government, however, did not act on these recommendations, leaving the situation unaddressed despite the clear escalation.
