CJP cancels Sept. 5 protest after government secures Supreme Court case withdrawals

The Cockroach Janata Party called off its planned September 5 march after the central government obtained a Supreme Court order to drop charges against student protesters.

The party announced the cancellation once the government succeeded in having the Supreme Court withdraw pending cases linked to the Jantar Mantar demonstration. The decision follows a letter from Congress MP Ajay Maken seeking a debate on alleged pellet-gun and lathi-charge use against students. By removing the legal threat, authorities aim to defuse tensions surrounding the protest movement.

Why it matters

It shows how legal pressure can shape protest tactics and government response to student dissent.
