CJP launches new wave of protests across Indian cities, eyes Jantar Mantar showdown
CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke announced a fresh protest series starting in Mumbai, with plans to expand to several states before converging on Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke declared a second wave of protests, labeling it “protest 2.0,” to pressure the government after a prior rally calling for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. Mumbai police blocked entry to Shivaji Park, citing its silent-zone status, so the group assembled outside the venue, where actors Shabana Azmi and singer Vishal Dadlani participated. Dipke warned that massive crowds would overwhelm Delhi’s barricades.
Co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka echoed the threat, promising a decisive demonstration at Jantar Mantar. CJP also outlined plans for parallel agitations in Bengaluru, Goa, Patna, Uttar Pradesh and Ranchi, aiming to launch the main protest at Jantar Mantar by the end of October.
Why it matters
The protests signal escalating political dissent and could disrupt public spaces in multiple Indian cities.
