Class action alleges Anthropic misled subscribers about Max plan usage limits

A group of Claude users has filed an expanded class-action lawsuit accusing Anthropic of deceptive advertising for its Max subscription tier, which costs between $100 and $200 per month. The plan promises "5x" or "20x" the usage limits of the $20-per-month Pro tier, but the complaint says those multipliers only apply within five-hour session windows that are subject to a weekly cap, resulting in far less overall capacity.

Attorneys Monica Vaca and Kati Daffan, former Federal Trade Commission officials, argue the crucial session limits are buried in fine print and require navigating multiple hyperlinks to discover. Anthropic’s motion to dismiss maintains that the details are technically disclosed and accessible, likening it to reading a product label. The company has not provided a comment. The lawsuit highlights growing consumer frustration with high-priced AI services and the industry's cost pressures.
