A club statement confirmed that Clearlake has bought out Todd Boehly and Walters, ending Boehly’s four-year tenure and making Clearlake the sole owner of Chelsea.
Chelsea Football Club announced that the Clearlake consortium has completed the purchase of the 12.8 % stakes previously owned by Todd Boehly and Walters, effectively ending Boehly’s four-year involvement as chairman and sporting director. The deal, reported at around £1 billion, raises the club’s overall worth to close to £5 billion. Clearlake’s leadership team, comprising Behdad Eghbali, Jose E Feliciano and investor Hansjorg Wyss, will retain Wyss as a key stakeholder.
The club emphasized that there will be no alterations to day-to-day management, leadership structure, or strategic plans. Boehly, who had clashed with co-owner Behdad Eghbali over stadium redevelopment options, issued a statement of gratitude and optimism for the club’s future under new ownership.
