The Trump administration's push to shine a spotlight on noncitizen voting is highlighting how rare it is. Election experts have long said that a handful of noncitizens cast ballots every election but they have little impact compared to the tens of millions of legal ballots cast. On Wednesday, the Trump administration announced charges against 10 noncitizens who cast ballots in Minnesota over three elections. More than 8 million Minnesotans voted legally during that time. Trump has made noncitizen voting a centerpiece of his election conspiracy theories and has pushed for more safeguards.
