Clippers add 7-foot-5 center Jamarion Sharp on two-way deal to counter Spurs star
The Los Angeles Clippers signed 7-foot-5 center Jamarion Sharp to a two-way contract, making him the NBA’s tallest player and a potential answer to Victor Wembanyama.
Los Angeles Clippers have signed 7-foot-5 center Jamarion Sharp to a two-way contract, giving the team the tallest player in the NBA and a possible tool against San Antonio Spurs’ phenom Victor Wembanyama. Sharp’s collegiate career included stops at John A. Logan College, Western Kentucky and Ole Miss, and he went undrafted in 2024 before joining the Dallas Mavericks’ Summer League team. He then spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Mavericks’ G League affiliate, the Texas Legends, where he captured the Defensive Player of the Year award for the 2025-26 campaign, leading the league with 3.9 blocks per game and shooting 71.2% from the field.
After a stint with the Toronto Raptors in the 2026 Summer League, the Clippers added him to their roster. Although Sharp does not possess the shooting and athleticism that make Wembanyama a unique threat, his extra inch of height may give the Clippers a defensive edge when they meet the Spurs. The upcoming Clippers-Spurs matchup is expected to draw significant viewership.
Why it matters
Adding a record-height defender gives the Clippers a new option to contend with the league’s most dominant center.
