Co-defendant testifies against alleged mastermind in Auckland double murder trial
Shu Man Poon, who pleaded guilty to the 2023 killings of Fuk-Fu Joseph Kwok and Mei Han Chong, testified against his former accomplice Lok Fung Lorrence Li in the High Court.
In the Auckland High Court, Shu Man Poon, a guilty co-defendant in the 2023 murders of Fuk-Fu Joseph Kwok and Mei Han Chong, gave evidence against Lok Fung Lorrence Li, who faces murder and conspiracy charges. Poon recounted that Li threatened his family and that he himself owed Li $7,000, creating pressure to join the plot. The two had connected through the Amazing Grace Christian Church, where Poon felt obliged to protect Li as an older brother figure.
According to Poon, Li devised a plan to rob his landlord, place a GPS tracker, and then murder the family to obtain credit-card codes, purchasing night-vision gear and weapons for the scheme. Poon claimed he warned church leaders, reported the plot to police, and attempted to convince Li to abandon it, but Li continued to press him via text messages, which the court reviewed. The trial remains ongoing.
