Coach Farr aims to turn 12-1 momentum into a championship run for the Hurricanes in 2026
Head coach Mike Farr is guiding the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes into the 2026 season after a 12-1 campaign and a narrow district title loss, with a revamped roster and staff.
Entering his 41st year at the helm, Mike Farr reflects on a flawless regular season that fell short in the District 11 Class AA title game, leaving the Hurricanes with a 12-1 record and a hunger for redemption. The coaching staff, acknowledging the need for growth, will see former assistant John Carestia take over as defensive coordinator after Frank Gaffney’s departure. Offensively, senior tailback Colton Reber, who amassed 2,875 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns last year, will be joined by junior Logan Goad and a quarterback duel between Bradyn Diehl and Bode Hinnershitz.
New offensive schemes aim to maximize the talent of receivers Brody Walchak, Louis Muriel and freshman tight end Noah Runkle. Defensively, the unit will rely on veterans Tristan Davis, Chase Leibensperger and Chase Yoder, with emerging contributors like Wyatt Gerber and Michael Osatchuck. The Hurricanes open the 2026 schedule on Aug. 28 at Mount Carmel and will face a slate of local rivals throughout the fall.
Why it matters
Local fans and players will follow the Hurricanes' quest to convert a strong record into a championship after a painful title loss.
