Coalition agrees to boost Help to Buy credit and raise pension payments ahead of Budget 2027
Coalition leaders have approved a €5,000 increase to the Help to Buy tax rebate and a €10 weekly rise to the State pension as Budget 2027 is finalized.
Tonight coalition leaders confirmed a €5,000 uplift to the Help to Buy tax credit, taking the maximum benefit to €35,000 for first-time homebuyers. A €10 weekly increase to the State pension and all core social-welfare payments was also agreed, while the Children’s Allowance remains unchanged but child support will rise by €6 per one outlet. Income-tax policy will see the 40% bracket start at €46,500, up from €44,000, and the rent-a-room tax-free allowance will climb to €16,000 annually.
Additional measures include a €200 rise in the Rent Tax Credit and a €500 permanent disability payment. Money ministers Jack Chambers and Simon Harris will deliver the complete Budget 2027 to Dáil Éireann tomorrow.
