Coastguard launches helicopter and lifeboat rescue for distressed vessel near Plymouth
A five-person vessel reported in distress in the English Channel prompted a coastguard helicopter, aircraft and RNLI lifeboats to be dispatched southwest of Eddystone Lighthouse.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency received an alert just after 18:00 BST about a craft with five occupants in trouble near the Eddystone Lighthouse off Plymouth. In response, a rescue helicopter, a fixed-wing aircraft and lifeboats from Falmouth and Plymouth were sent to the scene. No further details about the vessel or the emergency have been released.
