Cochin Shipyard Secures Over 40 New Vessels from US, Europe and Beyond

India’s Cochin Shipyard Limited has received orders for more than 40 ships from countries including the United States, Germany and Norway, according to the shipping ministry.

During the second day of the 3rd "Sagarmanthan - The Ocean Dialogue," Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways' efforts to create a favourable ecosystem for ship construction in India. He reported that Cochin Shipyard Limited has secured orders for more than 40 ships from overseas customers, notably the United States, Germany and Norway. A senior official from the shipping ministry confirmed that Russian entities are exploring joint projects with Indian shipyards, including Cochin Shipyard.

Sonowal also mentioned a meeting with a Myanmar minister who praised the successful operation of Myanmar’s coastal shipping and the Sittwe Port. Additionally, Belgium indicated interest in cooperating with India to boost shipbuilding activities.
