Cognizant and Google Cloud launch new unit to scale agentic AI for enterprises

Cognizant and Google Cloud announced an expanded partnership that creates a dedicated global team to accelerate the rollout of enterprise-grade agentic AI solutions.

Cognizant and Google Cloud have broadened their alliance by forming a Gemini Frontier Capability Group, a global workforce that pairs Google's enterprise-ready AI stack with Cognizant's industry and engineering expertise. Backed by over 18,000 Cognizant staff, the unit aims to bridge the gap between pilot projects and full production, delivering resilient, secure AI agents for large corporations. The initiative will initially target legacy system modernization, developer experience, autonomous business-process agents, and frontier cyber-defence, using a standardized, security-first architecture built on the Model Context Protocol and Google Cloud's Model Armor.

Ravi Kumar S said the group allows top engineering talent to focus on bringing frontier AI to clients, while Thomas Kurian noted the partnership will help customers adopt autonomous agents at scale. Cognizant also plans to expand internal use of Gemini, targeting 200,000 associates by year-end.

Why it matters

The partnership could speed up enterprise adoption of safe, production-grade AI agents, influencing how large companies automate operations.
