COL Group unveils AI Studios to broaden global content distribution

COL Group announced the creation of COL AI Studios, a new unit aimed at expanding its worldwide distribution network and developing AI-enhanced content.

COL Group introduced COL AI Studios as a dedicated entertainment vertical designed to help platforms, studios and brands create, test and scale content beyond traditional licensing. Leveraging a catalog that now contains over 5,000 live-action titles sourced from the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia and China, the studio adds a development layer for animation, short-form and long-form series, advertising, branded entertainment and live-action productions.

Generative production tools are positioned as one method among many, enabling creators to gauge audience response before committing to high-budget projects. The company’s workforce of more than 500 writers, directors, producers, editors and artists operates out of Los Angeles, China and Southeast Asia, and its existing studios have delivered more than 300 AI productions. Early projects such as “Love Missions Across the Galaxy” have already become multi-season franchises with localized versions in over 10 languages. Executives Timothy Oh and Ray Tong emphasized responsible AI use and the importance of storytelling over sheer output.

Why it matters

The launch shows how AI is being integrated into mainstream content creation, potentially reshaping media production and distribution.
