College athlete killed by police after entering wrong house during night out

Glenn “Bubba” Pysher, 22, was out celebrating a friend’s birthday at a bar in Upper Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, when his group decided to continue the party at a house. After drinking, he walked to what he believed was his friend’s residence but mistakenly approached a different home and knocked, thinking he was welcome. The startled occupants called 911, and police arrived just after 12:30 a.m. Officers located Pysher in the back of the house, where an encounter resulted in him being shot and killed, even though he was unarmed and only had a cell phone and a backpack.

His mother, Erin Pysher, said the shooting occurred within minutes of his last phone call to friends. The Montgomery County Detective’s Bureau, in coordination with the Montgomery District Attorney’s Office, is conducting the investigation. Pysher had recently transferred to Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey and was set to start classes and play baseball there on Monday.
