College graduate killed in Fresno house party shooting after dispute with woman
A 26-year-old recent graduate was fatally shot at a Fresno house party following an argument with a 24-year-old woman, who was later arrested.
Fresno authorities reported that 26-year-old Marione Tsegay, who had just earned a degree in kinesiology, was shot during a house party after a confrontation with 24-year-old Nemidia Knuckles. The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. near Fruit and Shields avenues, and a bystander attempted to drive the victim to a hospital before a fire truck blocked the route. Paramedics rushed Tsegay to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later died despite life-saving efforts.
Knuckles was located at a Wendy’s restaurant close to Blackstone and Weldon avenues at about 11 p.m. and was booked on suspicion of murder, with bail set at $1 million. Detectives A. Barragan and R. Gallegos are handling the case and have asked the public for tips. Tsegay had worked as a physical-therapy aide at Fresno Heart and Surgical Hospital and previously held a management role at McDonald’s.
