College soccer player killed by boyfriend; mother aided in body concealment

Karoline Heintz, a freshman soccer player at PennWest University, was stabbed to death by her boyfriend Royce Mosher, who with his mother Rachel Mosher helped hide the victim’s body.

PennWest University freshman and women's soccer recruit Karoline Heintz was found dead in the back hatch of her Jeep Cherokee shortly after a wellness check was requested by her family. According to Pennsylvania State Trooper Rocco Gagliardi, the incident began after Heintz met her boyfriend Royce Mosher at a family party and later at Mosher’s father’s home in North Strabane Township, where he retrieved a large kitchen knife.

Mosher allegedly stabbed Heintz in the chest and placed her body in the vehicle before driving to his mother Rachel Mosher’s home in Beallsville, where they attempted to clean the car and conceal the crime. The body was later located near the California Borough Library, and both Mosher and his mother were taken into custody. Mosher has been charged with criminal homicide, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse and obstruction, while his mother faces tampering, obstruction, hindering apprehension and abuse of a corpse. He reportedly claimed a “demon” compelled him to commit the act.
