College student killed and two others injured in head-on crash near Monterey
One college student died and two were injured when a black Nissan Altima collided head-on with a white Honda CR-V near Monterey.
A head-on collision on a Monterey road between a black Nissan Altima and a white Honda CR-V resulted in one fatality and several injuries. The deceased was 19-year-old Sebastian Burgos, a Downey high-school salutatorian now studying biology at UC Santa Cruz. Fellow occupants included Abby Tinoco, a UCLA sophomore pre-law student and track athlete, and Noah Trevino; both survived but were hospitalized.
Their siblings Nathan and Jose also sustained injuries. First responders, comprising six ambulances and multiple California Highway Patrol vehicles, took the injured to Natividad Medical Center. Community fundraising efforts have each collected more than $10,000 to help the families cope with medical and other costs. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
