Colorado counties and regional group oppose Boulder climate suit as no local governments back it

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Boulder’s climate case against major energy companies next month. Over 60 amicus briefs have been submitted, reflecting polarized positions. Eight Colorado counties—Archuleta, Delta, Garfield, Grand, Mesa, Montezuma, Montrose, and Rio Blanco—joined the Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado in a brief opposing the suit. Despite the case’s eight-year history, no Colorado city or county filed a brief supporting Boulder’s claim.
