Colorado mother claims officer handcuffed son over back-to-school photo refusal

Amanda Stolz posted on Facebook that her son, Colton, refused to have a back-to-school photograph taken on his first day of fifth grade. While she was driving him to school, they were stopped by Keenesburg Officer Jack Ross, who flashed his lights and detained the child in handcuffs. Stolz wrote that the officer told her the refusal was illegal and that the boy might have been taken to the police station before school started.

She later shared photos showing the officer securing Colton’s hands behind his back and placing him in a patrol car, with the child smiling. The mother praised the officer’s seriousness and joked that the photo was finally secured. The story was reported and one outlet Colorado.
