Columnist says Trump admin isn’t highlighting wage gains and housing agenda

One outlet economics columnist Tiana Lowe Doescher contended on a journalist at one outlet that the Trump administration is not capitalizing on a more favorable economic record than it is communicating. She highlighted Bureau of Labor Statistics figures showing a roughly 4% decline in real wages during President Joe Biden’s four-year term, contrasted with an increase in real average weekly earnings under President Donald Trump.

While inflation has receded from its peak, consumers still face high housing costs, which she said now dominate affordability worries. Doescher argued that President Trump missed an opportunity by not aligning himself with the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a bill led by Senator Tim Scott, the chair of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. She concluded that the administration needs to more forcefully claim credit for any prosperity and wage growth it believes is occurring.
