Conagra halts production of longtime budget frozen pizza brand Celeste
Conagra Brands announced it will stop making Celeste frozen pizzas, ending the decades-old budget staple and leaving shelves to clear existing stock.
Conagra Brands revealed in its fiscal first-quarter 2027 earnings remarks that production of Celeste frozen pizzas has been discontinued, a decision that trimmed roughly 15 basis points from the quarter’s net sales but should boost future profit margins. CEO John Brase explained that Celeste represents a small, low-profit brand that lacks a viable future, prompting the company to exit and focus on simplifying its extensive portfolio of more than 400 single-serve SKUs.
While no new Celeste pizzas will be made, existing store shelves will be cleared as current inventory sells out. The announcement sparked a wave of nostalgia online, with users recalling the cheap 10-for-$10 deals and family memories tied to the brand. Celeste traces its origins to Celeste "Mama" Lizio, who founded a Chicago-area food business later sold to Quaker Oats in 1969. Conagra said the move is part of a broader strategy to streamline its core platforms and improve overall productivity.
