Congress strips Vito Quiles of press accreditation amid repeated violations
The Congress governing board voted to permanently revoke Vito Quiles' press accreditation after multiple serious infractions in March.
On Tuesday, the Congress governing board, backed by a PSOE and Sumar majority, voted to permanently withdraw Vito Quiles' accreditation as a press operator within the parliamentary complex. The board concluded investigations into three serious violations that occurred on 17, 25 and 26 March, involving the interruption of a Patxi López press conference and the online sharing of images captured in restricted areas. Because Quiles was already suspended for earlier serious breaches since 13 May, the new infractions were classified as very serious, triggering the final revocation.
Sources indicated that Quiles, like another agitator Bertrand Ndongo, continued to appear near the Congress to film politicians despite the suspension. The move bars him from any further journalistic activity inside the institution.
