Congressional panels subpoena IDEMIA for documents on alleged non-citizen voter registrations in New Jersey
House Administration and Judiciary committees have asked IDEMIA North America to provide all records related to a software issue that may have added 6,600 non-citizens to New Jersey voter rolls.
Republican leaders of the House Administration and Judiciary Committees sent a formal request to IDEMIA North America, seeking all paperwork and emails concerning a software malfunction that may have registered 6,600 non-citizens in New Jersey. The demand coincides with a letter to Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon, asking the Justice Department to assess the state’s adherence to the Civil Rights Act.
Governor Mikie Sherrill has claimed a glitch caused the registrations, while IDEMIA contends the state must verify voter eligibility. The committees highlighted that the Motor Vehicle Commission identified the problem in June 2024 and asked IDEMIA to adjust the system to block non-citizen registration. Representatives Bryan Steil, Jim Jordan, Laurel Lee and Jeff Van Drew emphasized the need for accountability and a thorough investigation. A separate inquiry was directed to Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell for additional details on the alleged software errors.
