Conservative commentators slam Kelly Clarkson over Brooklyn shop dispute
Right-wing personalities attacked Kelly Clarkson after she claimed a Brooklyn novelty store treated her like a movie character, while the shop said the item she wanted was not for sale.
Kelly Clarkson took to X to describe a recent trip to Art of Play, an independent novelty shop in Brooklyn, alleging that staff treated her as if she could not afford items and offered to find a comparable product. The shop clarified that the animatronic bird she sought, called Molly, is a permanent fixture and not for sale, though they had suggested an alternative. Conservative commentator Greg Gutfeld and the far-right X account Libs of TikTok responded with harsh criticism, labeling Clarkson as a "whiny" entitled celebrity who tried to leverage her status.
The right-leaning account Leftism echoed this sentiment, noting the store’s signage and the offer of a similar item, and accusing Clarkson of demanding the exact piece. Art of Play expressed feeling attacked by millions of Clarkson’s followers and said they hope to resolve the misunderstanding. Clarkson has since reiterated that the store was rude and dishonest, keeping the dispute alive on social media.
