Conservatives select Cameron as candidate for Holborn and St Pancras by-election

The Holborn and St Pancras seat will become vacant after Sir Keir Starmer announced his intention to step down as MP when Parliament returns on September 1, setting a by-election for October 8. He criticized the Green leader for focusing on Gaza and warned against another “Never Here” MP.

Labour has dominated the constituency since 1983, yet recent local and general elections have shown a shift of some Labour voters toward the Greens and independents, reflecting dissatisfaction with the government's Gaza policy. This marks the third official candidate entry, with the nomination deadline on September 15. The contest is expected to test Labour’s hold on the seat amid changing voter sentiments.
