Consolidated Pastoral Company acquires Vermelha Station, boosting NT water licences

Consolidated Pastoral Company (CPC) has expanded its Australian holdings by buying Vermelha Station for $47.4 million, according to NT Land Titles Office records. The property, spanning 204,000 hectares near Larrimah, comes with an estimated 15,000 cattle and a 2,956-megalitre-per-year water licence. Previously controlled by Vietnamese investors since 2016, the station joins CPC’s existing portfolio that already includes the Beetaloo Aggregation and Rawlinna station.

The acquisition lifts CPC’s total groundwater licences in the Northern Territory to 18,524 ML annually, making it the region’s largest irrigator. CEO Troy Setter explained that the additional water will enable more reliable irrigated crops such as sorghum, hay and cotton, improving feed supply for its cattle. Initial irrigation infrastructure is planned for the next year, with the licence currently under-utilised on a small pivot system and cleared land.
