Constitutional Party Candidate Mobilizes Grassroots Drive to Challenge Wyoming GOP Nominee

Rebecca Bextel, the Constitutional Party’s gubernatorial contender, announced a rapid 60-day push to travel across Wyoming and rally voters against Republican nominee Eric Barlow, whom she accuses of receiving substantial liberal funding and voting with Democrats. Her campaign, framed as “Wyoming First,” is being supported by the grassroots organization Wyoming Stockman for Liberty, which plans door-to-door canvassing, radio ads, Facebook outreach and mailers to mobilize the state’s 85% self-identified Republicans who often abstain from voting.

Bextel claims to have out-raised former GOP hopeful Brent Bien within a week, while Barlow secured 45% in the August primary that also saw Democrat-endorsed Megan Degenfelder earn 29.7% of the vote. Evidence-based reports label Barlow as one of the most liberal Republicans, citing votes to raise oil-gas taxes and support Obamacare funding. The campaign underscores a broader strategy by liberal-aligned donors to place non-conservative candidates in GOP races, a tactic that previously cost the Wyoming Freedom Caucus several seats.
