Construction worker charged with stealing jewelry from Napa homes and reselling it
A Napa construction worker has been arrested on felony charges for allegedly breaking into homes in Napa and Pleasant Hill, stealing high-value jewelry and handbags, and pawning the items.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested David Alejandro Gomez Sanchez, a 44-year-old construction professional, on 12 felony charges tied to a series of residential burglaries. Investigators identified a pattern in four recent thefts in the Hagen Road neighborhood, where victims reported missing jewelry and handbags despite no signs of forced entry. Gomez, who has worked on multiple homes in the region, was stopped after a botched attempt to enter a house on Hillcrest Drive, and police later found stolen earrings, necklaces, watches, designer bags and jewelry boxes in his truck.
He admitted to participating in the burglaries when arrested on Aug. 21 and remains held in Napa County jail. Officials are now asking the public for information on other possible thefts that could extend back to 2024.
