Construction worker killed after being buried at Lisbon's former Feira Popular site
A 25-year-old laborer died when he was buried during cement work in a pit at the old Feira Popular in Lisbon.
At approximately 13:30 on Saturday, a 25-year-old construction worker was buried while installing cement in a pit at the former Feira Popular in Lisbon. The Regimento de Sapadores de Lisboa dispatched 34 personnel and 12 vehicles, supported by the PSP and municipal civil protection units. Rescue teams recovered the victim's body from the trench, and an INEM doctor certified his death on site. The corpse was transferred to the Instituto de Medicina Legal de Lisboa for a post-mortem examination. Authorities emphasized the rapid multi-agency response to the incident.
