Consumer Reports releases its 2026 top vehicle picks across ten categories

Consumer Reports unveiled its 2026 Top Picks, naming a single model in each of ten vehicle segments, all of which are offered as hybrids or electric variants.

Consumer Reports completed its annual testing of over 260 cars, trucks and SUVs sold in the United States and published a Top Picks list for 2026 that features ten winners, one per major segment. The selections span from the Honda Civic Hybrid, which delivers 44 mpg and 200 hp, to the Tesla Model Y, praised for its quiet cabin and Supercharger network. All winners are offered as hybrids or, in the case of the Model Y, as a pure electric, underscoring a shift toward electrified powertrains.

Notable entries include the Toyota Camry and Grand Highlander hybrids, Subaru’s all-wheel-drive Crosstrek and Forester, Lexus NX plug-in hybrid, BMW X5 hybrid, and Ford’s Maverick and F-150 hybrids. The publication highlighted gains in fuel efficiency, smoother power delivery and strong reliability scores as key factors behind the choices.
