Consumer safety agency recalls popular squishy toys over water-bead injury risk

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of two popular squishy toy series because they contain water beads that can expand inside a child's stomach, leading to choking, intestinal blockage, severe discomfort, or even death. The affected items are GIHNJSI's Squeezy Dumplings, about 8,000 units sold on Amazon in May and June, and OKK Trading's Rainbow Mystery Squishy Buns, roughly 7,200 units sold through third-party stores from May through August.

Both toys feature glittery, cartoon-faced designs packaged in bamboo-steamer-style containers. Although no injuries have been reported, the CPSC urges owners to label the toys as recalled, discard them, and email photos to the manufacturers for a full refund. The agency also warned that similar Squishy Bun toys from Ivyapingdianpu violate safety standards and should be thrown away. Consumers are asked to report any injuries or defects to the CPSC.
