Convicted ex-Quebec cardiologist seeks escorted prison leave before parole hearing
Guy Turcotte, a former Quebec doctor convicted of killing his two children, will appear before the Parole Board of Canada to request a temporary escorted absence.
The 54-year-old, sentenced to life with no parole for 17 years after being found guilty of second-degree murder for stabbing his five-year-old son Olivier and three-year-old daughter Anne-Sophie in 2009, is slated to attend a parole hearing on Tuesday. Turcotte had previously been deemed not criminally responsible, a verdict later overturned. He will ask the board for a temporary escorted absence from prison. The board does not publish decisions on such requests, which may be delivered orally.
