COO of Fast Lab Technologies pleads guilty to $500 million Covid test fraud scheme
Hasan “Lucas” Seyhun, the former COO of Fast Lab Technologies, admitted to conspiring in a scheme that generated over $500 million in false Covid-19 test claims.
A Miami resident, Hasan “Lucas” Seyhun, admitted guilt to a conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud tied to Fast Lab Technologies, a company that marketed “no-cost” Covid-19 tests online. Court filings allege the firm harvested insurance information from purchasers and submitted fraudulent claims for antigen, saliva and PCR services that were never carried out, occasionally filing them before kits arrived. Prosecutors say the operation produced over $500 million in false claims to government-backed health programs, with the conspirators receiving at least $35 million in illicit payments.
Seyhun agreed to forfeit $4,313,153, the amount he personally obtained. The investigation involved multiple federal and state agencies, including the FBI and the HHS Office of Inspector General. U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon Jr condemned the exploitation of pandemic fear to steal taxpayer dollars.
