Cooluli pulls 250,000 mini-fridges over fire and burn risks

Cooluli has initiated a recall of roughly 250,000 of its 10-liter and 15-liter minifridges after the Consumer Product Safety Commission documented at least 19 cases of the devices smoking, sparking, melting, overheating or catching fire. The incidents have resulted in property losses of more than $80,000 and one report of smoke inhalation. The recall applies to units sold from January 2019 through October 2024 via the company’s own site and Amazon, specifically those with an internal power supply and older production batches.

Newer models that use an external power supply are not affected. Cooluli, based in Brooklyn, New York, will ship a free repair kit to qualifying customers who confirm their model number and provide photos of the power cord. The company urges owners to cease using the recalled fridges until the repair kit is received.
