Cornwall rapist sentenced to nine years after lying to police and abusing minors

Bradley Fitzpatrick, a 22-year-old from Kinsman Estate in Bodmin, was sentenced to nine years in prison with a further three-year extended licence after being found guilty of three counts of rape, three sexual assaults, two assaults by penetration and one charge of forcing sexual activity without consent. The offences involved two teenage victims; the first assault occurred in an alleyway after Fitzpatrick met the girl at a local garage in December 2021, and the second took place in a woodland area while he was on bail for the first crime.

He repeatedly claimed the encounters were consensual, but forensic evidence and police testimony contradicted his statements. During the investigation, detectives also uncovered indecent images of children and extreme pornography on his phone, to which he pleaded guilty. Defense lawyer Ryan Murray described Fitzpatrick as a young man with limited education and maturity, but the court emphasized the severity of his actions. The sentencing was delivered at Truro Crown Court on Thursday, September 24.
