Costco adds delivery for custom cakes and party platters via Instacart

Costco has begun offering delivery of its popular custom sheet cakes, 10-inch round cakes, sandwich trays, shrimp trays and fruit platters through Instacart’s marketplace and SameDay Costco site. Shoppers can customize cake dimensions, flavors, designs and add a brief message in a chosen color. This rollout follows the removal of an older paper-order process that required in-store forms.

Instacart, Costco’s main delivery partner, said the addition reflects a deepening collaboration that began with same-day delivery in 2017. Ryan Hamburger, Instacart’s chief commercial officer, said the new options give members more ways to order for celebrations. Costco has not responded to a request for comment.
