Costco plans to open 14 new warehouses in the US and Canada by year-end
Costco announced that 14 additional warehouses will open across the United States and Canada before the end of the year, with five slated for October and nine for November.
Costco is set to add 14 warehouses across North America before the year closes, with five openings in October at Lee's Summit, Missouri; The Colony, Texas; Amherst, New York; Lawrence, Kansas; and Camarillo, California. November will see nine more stores, including four Canadian locations in Northeast Edmonton, Lloydminster, East Windsor and Wasaga Beach, and five U.S. sites in Idaho, California, Arizona, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The Newport News, Virginia store will relocate from its 1988 site to a new 163,000-square-foot facility on a nearby 32-acre parcel. The company continues to seek approvals for further stores in places like Downey, California, and Charleston County, South Carolina, while confirming no new openings in Rhode Island, West Virginia or Wyoming. CEO Ron Vachris has previously said Costco aims to open 30 or more warehouses annually over the next five to ten years, splitting new U.S. sites and international locations.
