Court imposes fines on surgeons Pirka and Netuka for extortion scheme
A Czech court sentenced cardiac surgeons Pirka and Netuka to monetary penalties for an extortion plot, while the case against the late clinic director Michal Stiborek was discontinued.
The trial concluded with Pirka and Netuka receiving financial punishments for attempting to blackmail colleagues. Prosecutors had also charged former clinic director Michal Stiborek, who died last August, but his proceedings were halted. Evidence showed Stiborek had threatened to publish fabricated compromising material created by Raška and had used a screenshot of a vulgar SMS from Netuka about former health minister Vlastimil Válka. The message was sent anonymously to the minister to tarnish the surgeons' reputation.
