Court to decide on stay request for new evidence in Rosmah Mansoor case

A three-judge panel is set to consider a stay application at 9 a.m. on Thursday, after the Court of Appeal ordered fresh evidence to be recorded in Rosmah Mansoor’s trial. The High Court had scheduled September 17 for the prosecution witness Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah to give further testimony, with Rosmah’s team expected to cross-examine and the prosecution to follow up with re-examination. The stay request follows the prosecution’s appeal to the Federal Court against the Court of Appeal’s permission for the new evidence, which includes a police report and a statutory declaration.

Earlier, the Court of Appeal directed the High Court to complete the evidence collection within two weeks of a September 10 case-management meeting and postponed Rosmah’s own appeal to mid-October. Rosmah, convicted in September 2022 of soliciting billions of ringgit and receiving large cash payments, faces a ten-year jail term and a RM970 million fine.
