Crane arm collapses onto rooftop pool at Miami luxury condo, workers escape unharmed

During assembly on Friday, a crane at the One Plaza West Brickell luxury condominium in Miami experienced a mechanical failure, causing its boom to topple onto the building's rooftop pool deck. The falling arm ripped through palm trees and landed partially in the pool, as recorded by nearby resident Macie Norrod, who described the scene as shocking. Workers in green vests held onto the upper portion of the crane before safely climbing down ladders to the ground.

Miami Fire Rescue spokesperson Lt. Pete Sanchez said firefighters quickly secured the area, conducted a comprehensive search and found no casualties. The construction crew confirmed all personnel were present and uninjured. Miami’s Building Department along with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration have opened investigations into the cause of the collapse.
