In a recent interview, climate crisis minister Ευάγγγελος Τουρνάς detailed the response to the recent severe weather in Crete. He confirmed that the ΔΑΕΦΚ is conducting inspections of residential and commercial properties, with the full damage inventory slated for completion by the coming week. Once the dossiers are deemed complete, the ministry will coordinate with local Δήμοι and the Περιφέρεια to release the first tranche of compensation to residents within ten days, and to allocate funds for impacted businesses within fifteen days. The household aid is intended to cover repairs to heating equipment. Τουρνάς also provided an overview of the ongoing fire-season measures, noting that Greece is confronting both northern wildfires and southern flooding as manifestations of climate change.
