Crystal Jade Fine Dining charged over late tax filing, hearing delayed

Crystal Jade Fine Dining was charged on April 15 for failing to file a complete income tax return for the 2025 assessment year without a reasonable excuse. During the scheduled hearing on Sept 29, the company's representative did not attend, prompting the judge to push the case back to Oct 27. The charge carries a maximum penalty of S$5,000 if the group is found guilty.

The chain, which operates six restaurant brands, has shuttered multiple locations in Singapore this year, including Hong Kong Kitchen outlets and earlier closures at Hillion Mall and Suntec City. Management says the closures are part of a broader review and that affected staff are being offered redeployment where possible. Currently, about 13 outlets remain open across the island.
