Cuban foreign agent Victor Mellor runs for Rhode Island Congress amid residency doubts
Victor Mellor, a registered Cuban foreign agent, is campaigning for Rhode Island’s 2nd District while filing conflicting residence information in Rhode Island and Florida.
Victor Mellor, identified as a registered foreign agent for Cuba, is seeking the Republican nomination for Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District despite contradictory residency filings. A June DOJ filing cites Englewood, Florida as his home, while a Warwick, Rhode Island address appears as his business location; a July Florida marriage license, however, lists Warwick as his residence. Public records reveal the Warwick property is owned by a different couple, whereas Sarasota County records show Mellor and his partner own the Englewood home.
Mellor’s campaign, supported by former Trump advisers Rudy Giuliani and Michael Flynn and staffed by Trump allies Roger Stone and Joseph Flynn, dismissed the discrepancy as a clerical error. Federal Election Commission disclosures also show past campaign addresses in Venice, Tampa and Wisconsin. Mellor’s foreign-agent filings detail media projects for Cuba, including a “Partner With Cuba” website and a social-media strategy that challenges negative narratives about the island.
