A man wearing a Kenny Lofton jersey behind a woman in the same row lunged for the home run ball, pulling the woman backward and causing her to stumble to the ground. Video of the incident went viral, drawing a flood of critical remarks on X about the aggressiveness of some Cubs supporters.
It remains unclear whether the fan actually secured the ball. The Cubs were later defeated 11-4, ending the series, yet they still lead the NL Wild Card race with a 72-53 record. Their next series begins Monday against the White Sox.
