Culture Minister Ernest Urtasun Signals Openness to Lead Sumar's General Election List

Ernest Urtasun, one outlet minister of Culture, told Catalunya Ràdio that he will occupy the position on the Sumar electoral list that his partners decide for him, effectively keeping his candidacy option alive for the forthcoming general election. He stressed that his colleagues can count on his support and that he feels a huge responsibility given the risk of a far-right government. His statement follows Podemos' call for open primaries to select candidates for the broader left coalition, where Irene Montero is already the clear front-runner.

Over recent weeks, other prominent Sumar members—including Pablo Bustinduy, Mónica García and former leader Yolanda Díaz—have withdrawn from the contest, leaving Urtasun as a primary contender. He pledged that the alliance will soon clarify the list composition and strategy.
