Customs agents seize millions in counterfeit watches and designer shoes
U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted a shipment from South Korea bound for Georgia that contained counterfeit Rolex, Louis Vuitton watches and Gucci-style shoes, valuing millions of dollars.
During a routine inspection at the Louisville, Kentucky port on Aug. 18, U.S. Customs and Border Protection uncovered a concealed shipment of counterfeit luxury goods destined for Georgia. The haul included 152 watches with alleged Rolex and Louis Vuitton branding and 32 pairs of shoes bearing suspected Gucci trademarks. CBP’s Centers of Excellence and Expertise examined the items and determined they were fake, leading to their seizure.
The agency emphasized that counterfeit products harm U.S. businesses and deprive the economy of jobs and tax revenue. Authorities advised shoppers to purchase directly from trademark owners or authorized dealers to avoid inferior knock-offs. The seized merchandise was valued at millions of dollars.
