Customs officer convicted of assaulting four women with gun and badge in Chicago suburbs

A federal jury on Thursday convicted Customs and Border Protection Officer Luis Uribe of ten civil-rights violations and one firearm-brandishing charge for attacks on four women in the Chicago suburbs during 2022. The incidents, spanning February to October, took place in Schaumburg and Naperville and involved Chinese immigrant victims who required interpreter assistance. Prosecutors said Uribe used his badge and gun to threaten and assault the women, while the defense suggested he was framed by a prostitution network overseen by a Chinese boss.

Uribe testified that he had visited prostitutes but denied any non-consensual acts, insisting the encounters were consensual. The jury found the evidence sufficient for conviction, and U.S. District Judge Jorge Alonso set sentencing for Jan. 21, with a possible life sentence. Uribe has been in federal custody since his December 2025 arrest.
