Cyberattack forces shutdown of federal bankruptcy notice services

A cybersecurity breach affecting a contractor-run system has taken all federal bankruptcy notice websites offline.

The Administrative Office of the US Courts announced that a cyber incident involving BAE Systems IT, the contractor responsible for the Bankruptcy Noticing Center, has caused all related online services to go down. Websites such as bnc.uscourts.gov and notices.uscourts.gov, along with the National Creditor Registration Service, are currently inaccessible. The breach stopped the generation and transmission of bankruptcy notices for every federal bankruptcy court across the United States.

BAE Systems confirmed awareness of the isolated incident and said it is actively investigating and coordinating with the courts to restore functionality. The agency emphasized that the disruption affects the entire bankruptcy noticing process.

Why it matters

The outage interrupts the nationwide filing and notification system for federal bankruptcy cases, affecting courts, creditors, and debtors.
