Cyclist killed in August collision with delivery truck on Edmonton's 106 Street
A 27-year-old woman died from injuries after being struck by a delivery truck on 106 Street in Old Strathcona, police said.
On August 25, officers responded to a report of a collision between a delivery truck and a cyclist on 106 Street in Old Strathcona, Edmonton. The truck was heading west on 81 Avenue when it struck a 27-year-old woman riding a bicycle. The driver remained at the scene and initially reported no injuries.
Emergency services transported the cyclist to a hospital, where she later died on September 12. Police’s major collisions unit says speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors, but the driver has been issued a ticket for failing to stop. Investigators continue to review the incident, though no criminal charges have been laid so far.
